PARTICIPANTS IN THE TEXTILE PROJECT BEGAN MAKING A VARIETY OF PRODUCTS.

In April, the 25 people benefiting from the project put into practice the skills acquired in the technical training, starting with the manufacture of cushions. This project is carried out thanks to the support of TELUS International.

In the same month, Manos Amigas continued its medical attention at Clínica Miraflores, assisting children, young people, adults and the elderly. At the same time, it delivered nutritional supplements to people in the surrounding communities.

Due to the economic situation in the country, the NGO continues to bring aid to different municipalities. This month they delivered lunches to families in Cantón Arcos del Espino in Jucuarán; medicines to Miraflores in San Luis Talpa; and supplies to vulnerable communities in Tacuba, Ahuachapán.

History of entrepreneurs

During the month of April of this year, Asociación Manos Amigas presented the entrepreneurial story of Ana Gloria Escalante who resides with her husband, daughter, son-in-law and grandson in the village of Las Artillas located in the municipality of San Luis Talpa, department of La Paz.

Ana Gloria, 64 years old, who throughout her life worked in her own business, being so when she was young she dedicated herself to the cultivation of corn and maicillos being an important source of income for her family. Some time later he made his way in the incursion of the elaboration of atarrayas, however, a few years later he worked for a considerable time in a mill.

Since 2019 she has been dedicated to the elaboration of capiruchos, being an enterprise of great help to bring up three children, two men and a woman. Ana Gloria is also responsible for her husband, who has a disability and is therefore in a wheelchair. This enterprise has been the main source of income for her and her family. Ana Gloria’s handmade products are distributed by Manos Amigas.
